Fermented Pansy Soda Recipe

Pansies, with their vibrant colors and mild flavor, can be a unique addition to your homemade probiotic drinks. Here’s a simple recipe to get you started:

Fermented Pansy Soda Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Fresh pansy petals (about 1 cup)
  • 1/2 cup raw honey (look for unpasteurized or raw honey with natural yeast and bacteria)
  • Filtered water
  • A pinch of creativity! 🌸

Instructions:

  1. Harvest Pansies:
    • Gather fresh, pesticide-free pansy petals. Make sure they are clean and free from dirt or debris.
  2. Prepare the Sweetener:
    • Dilute the raw honey in filtered water to create a sweet syrup. The honey’s natural yeast will kickstart fermentation.
    • Use about 1/2 cup of honey per 2 cups of water.
  3. Combine Pansies and Sweetener:
    • Place the pansy petals in a glass container (a 16-ounce swing-top bottle works well).
    • Add the sweet honey-water mixture to the container, leaving about 1-2 inches of headspace at the top.
  4. Ferment:
    • Close the lid tightly and shake the bottle gently to distribute the honey.
    • Store the container in a warm place (such as your kitchen counter) for 2-3 days to allow fermentation.
    • If a stronger fizz is desired, continue fermenting for a few more days, periodically venting the bottle to release any excess carbonation.
  5. Enjoy!
    • Strain the fermented pansy soda to remove any petals.
    • Serve chilled and savor the delicate floral flavors with a touch of effervescence.

Remember, this pansy soda isn’t just a refreshing drink—it’s a work of art! Feel free to experiment by adding other herbs, spices, or even a splash of citrus juice. Cheers to creative concoctions! 🌿🌼✨
