I have written a blog regarding the importance of recycling previously. In this blog, I find it necessary to share some ideas related to recycling different things. So today, I will start with the concept of recycling cardboard boxes.

Cardboard boxes are a big part of our daily life. Whenever we shop for toys, electronics, etcetera, we get them. Be it big or small in some form or the other we get hold of it in our shopping. What we usually do is throw them away.

Two years back, this idea came to my mind that typically these cardboard boxes are firm, so why don’t I use them as a shelf. It was the time when I got hold of few cardboard boxes altogether. So I started working on the implementation of my idea, and it worked. They turned out to be great shelves.

The pandemic brought a lot of awareness to me about climate change, food shortages, how quickly our hospitals could colapse and more. This has sent me on a mission of becoming self-sustainable, empowered and working to help heal the earth. That is what the focus of this blog has become. The main way I'm working at this is through building a food forest and documenting as much as possible in hopes to inspire others. The more of us that do this, the more it will help heal the earth. When we buy produce from the grocery store, it was grown through monoculture, and that leads to use of chemicals that goes onto our food and into our planet, destroying soil. If we grow our own through permaculture (a food forest), we give the soil health. We also give ourselves health by growing organic foods and herbs that contribute to our health. There's a lot more to this, but this touches the surface. I'm only one year into this but my food forest is growing. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

  2. Neat idea to use cardboard as a shelf. Recently, I learned that cardboard makes for a free and more permeable layer than using landscape fabric in your garden. If you place a layer of cardboard then add a layer of mulch on top, your soil would stay moist longer and I would guess make a good barrier against weeds growing.
