Yesterday I had an upset stomach. I’ve been taking supplements that I don’t normally take and I think that is what’s doing it along with some stress. It was odd – my stomach was churning but I was hungry. I didn’t want to eat something that would upset it more.
Then I remembered that the day before I had drained a can of sliced pears and froze the slices for an upcoming smoothie. A yogurt based smoothie would be the perfect thing to soothe my upset stomach, and it did.
I had never thought of using canned fruit in a smoothie for some reason, but I have quite a few cans of fruit that I want to use up to create some pantry space and save a trip to the grocery store.
I do not have a blender, but do have a food processor. I took the frozen pears out and let them sit on the counter 5-10 minutes so they would blend easier. Then I added them to the food processor bowl along with some plain yogurt (I’d estimate it was around 1 cup), a few tablespoons of honey, some of the drained light syrup from the can (I saved it in the fridge) and cinnamon (which is supposed to be good for nausea). Processed it all until smooth. It was SO good and I could feel my stomach start to settle right away.
I’ll be having another one today but will use frozen canned peach slices.

Here are a few of the products available with my art printed on them (by clicking an item you like, it will take you to the page where it’s available). They’d make great gifts to yourself or someone you love and would help support my dream of becoming a full-time writer and artist. Any purchase would be SO appreciated, but if you don’t want to or can’t, that’s totally fine. Just stopping by and reading my blog is a huge support.

Sounds delicious ! I recommend water (hot or cold) with a little lemon juice (or slice of lemon). I have been told drinking water this way throughout your day makes a tummy purr and be happy.

Right??? It was very delicious and so soothing to my stomach. I made a peach one in the same way for yesterday’s lunch and it was just as good. ๐

Sounds good! ๐ I had never thought of making smoothies with canned fruit. (My parents used to make me eat Saltines ๐ช when I had an upset stomach, which helped, but this sounds a lot better! )

I had never thought of making smoothies with canned fruit either, but now it will be my favorite use. My parents made me eat Saltines too, and I believe they work, but I did not have any. Yogurt has the probiotics that are supposed to be good for gut health, and it was very soothing.
