I’ve been painting a lot lately and enjoying it. It’s helping me get through some difficult times. When I paint, all I think about is painting. Is there anything you do that gets you through difficult times?
Here is today’s painting. I’ve been admiring the work of Georges Rouault so I imitated his style.
Sometimes I have a hard time thinking of a subject to paint – it’s like writer’s block, but artist’s block. Last night I saw a lady on Youtube that wrote subjects on small strips of paper and put them into a cup then drew one and that would be her subject to paint. She also did it with colors. So I did that and this morning I drew the subject cityscape and the colors yellow, blue and teal. You will see other colors in this painting but I allowed myself to mix colors with those colors. Anyway, I love this process because the result is something I never would have thought of on my own.
This is painted with acrylics on a 5″ x 7″ canvas board. This can be purchased as a print here.
All my current paintings are listed on eBay as auctions. To see what’s available at this time, click here.

The pandemic brought a lot of awareness to me about climate change, food shortages, how quickly our hospitals could colapse and more. This has sent me on a mission of becoming self-sustainable, empowered and working to help heal the earth. That is what the focus of this blog has become. The main way I'm working at this is through building a food forest and documenting as much as possible in hopes to inspire others. The more of us that do this, the more it will help heal the earth. When we buy produce from the grocery store, it was grown through monoculture, and that leads to use of chemicals that goes onto our food and into our planet, destroying soil. If we grow our own through permaculture (a food forest), we give the soil health. We also give ourselves health by growing organic foods and herbs that contribute to our health. There's a lot more to this, but this touches the surface. I'm only one year into this but my food forest is growing. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

Awesome painting. I must try that idea sometime.

Thank-you! It’s a fun way to get started. I seem to always take so much time figuring out what I want to paint and this has solved it. It also helps me be more creative with color, using colors I may not use.

I have been working on a landscape today, several different colours and a couple more to add. I have been experiencing with a variety of brushes as well. I posted an update of it on my blog My Latest Challenge.
