I was out weeding and collecting Calendula to make more Calendula Soda yesterday evening and I heard leaves rustling around. I thought it was birds (which I also love to see but I see them a lot every day), but then saw two baby bunnies, one chasing the other round and round one of the garden beds.
Don’t know why I was so thrilled to see this when a few days ago I was trying to figure out what was eating some of my cherry tomatoes (one of the photos shows a bunny very close to the cherry tomato plant). Thankfully so far they’ve left the zucchini and cucumbers alone. I do have compost piles with vegetable scraps so maybe that will keep them from my garden veggies (fingers crossed). In the end I’m happy to see them because with the climate crisis going on, it helps me see things in a more positive way.
Went in the house to grab my phone so I could take pictures:
Bunnies symbolize abundance, vulnerability, fertility, good luck, fear, growth and rebirth. Seeing baby bunnies playing was a message to me to lighten up and have more fun. One of the bunnies got fairly close to me, about 5 feet away, which surprised me because bunnies are usually fearful. So maybe the message is to not be so fearful (I’ve been feeling fearful of the way the world is in crisis and what is to come). I’m sure I can think of much more personal meaning since I’ve been going through many changes over the past few years, but I won’t bore you with the details. Just thought I’d share the symbolic meaning because maybe there’s some meaning for you too, especially if you find this post.
Some of my bunny art printed on useful and decorative items available at Fine Art America. Any purchase helps support this blog. Thank-you!
