Please Share What You Do For Fun and The Effect Fun Has On Your Life.

Here I share a fun experience I had yesterday and the effect it had on me as an opening to reader shares on this subject of having fun. I hope you will join so we can create a resource for anyone looking to improve their life.

My Share:

I made time for fun this weekend. I went on a road trip with my dad to the beautiful Hood Canal in Washington state.

We live nearby and the round trip was around 130 miles. It was a beautiful sunny day and we enjoyed looking at the calm water reflecting late morning sunlight, gorgeous homes and scenery while driving and talking.

Dad told me quite a few of his wild memories which were very entertaining.

We stopped at an antique store where there were numerous things I wanted to buy but I did not because I may be moving in the near future. I did however, buy a few small rose quartz for $1 each.

We stopped at his favorite hamburger joint, Big Bubbas, where we both got hamburgers, onion rings and cherry milkshakes – all delicious. We ate at a nearby park near the water. Many Seagulls came to visit us and share small bites of food with us. It was extremely cold, but worth the experience.

Then we stopped to visit my brother on the way home.

What a nice day that was so good for the soul. Due to Covid, I have been spending a lot of time at home. I’m not one of those that get bored because I have many interests that keep me busy but road trips have always been one of my favorite things to do. I learned to be adventurous from my dad when I was a little girl and it has stuck with me through the years. I am an artist and writer so seeing and experiencing beautiful things inspire me for new works. Getting out and away from the normal routine refreshed me and gave me a new outlook on things currently going on.

It’s so important to make time for fun.

Please share what you do for fun and how it affects you in the comments below. The more that comment, the greater this resource will be for anyone looking to empower themselves and make life better. It’s so important to have many views on an idea.

Warmly, Monica

Here are a few of the products available with my art printed on them (by clicking an item you like, it will take you to the page where it’s available). They’d make great gifts to yourself or someone you love and would help support my dream of becoming a full-time writer and artist. Any purchase would be SO appreciated, but if you don’t want to or can’t, that’s totally fine. Just stopping by and reading my blog is a huge support.

  1. I think cycling is one of the activities that always lifts my heart. Now that I have an ebike, I ride even on windy days which I didn’t use to enjoy. Playing crib with my son always leads to laughter. On holidays more than opening my stocking I look forward to playing Simpsons Monopoly with family. I interpret fun as a synonym for laughter. Laughter has amazing physical abilities, it can lighten tension, help healing and give perspective. In one of my long times spent in the hospital I tried to have new jokes for the nurses and doctors every day. When results were dire, it helped them and me.

    1. Thank-you for sharing. I relate. Before my life got really busy over the past 6 months, I would get hooked on series like Downton Abby, Sparticus, and The Tudors for the same reason you mention above. It was so interesting to see how people lived, what they wore, the dramas that happened, the decor, etc. back then, even though these series are embellished a bit. I even loved the ones that were fictional like Lost, just to be transported to some adventure and the series gave you the chance to really know the characters, rather than a 2 hour long movie.

  2. Fun is very important because when we relax the brain can organize information. Iā€™ve grown to love many of the things I once considered hard work and as a result the lines between work and play are blurred in my life.

Some things I like to do:

Going for walks, playing chess, going to the river down the road, watching movies, listening to music, reading novels, good conversations, exploring nature, visiting historical sites, museums, going out and meeting new people, exploring new places and learning.

  3. Painting, gardening, cooking, walking, dancing, hand sewing, a good stimulating conversation, picnic in nature,… They all get me in the zone. By that I mean… Right brain alpha waves… It feels like time stops and everything just flows.

  5. Hi Monica, over the weekend I spent it with my family playing games and it involved money. Hmm šŸ§ it wasnā€™t gambling haha, laughing and having fun is key. Also spent it eating outdoors watching the sunset. With my coat and hat on but watched a beautiful sunset. ~Bernice
