Allow Yourself To Just Be

It’s ok to allow yourself to just be, especially during a time like this.

Pushing yourself doesn’t help.

When we can just be and flow with it, eventually we will be inspired to take action.

When we are being still, ideas are percolating.

I have had a few days where I got a lot done but then I get caught up in what is going on in our world.

I am having so many ideas for my future but then don’t know where to start, then feel exhausted.

I believe feeling exhausted is natural at a time like this with so much happening.

So take it easy on yourself.

I made my bedtime 9pm, since I was staying up a lot later. That way I can get up around 5 am. This will be much more productive for me because I usually get a lot done before noon, then seem to go lazy (since the pandemic). I also decided to watch a lot less news since it brings me down. So far so good. Maybe something like this will work for you too.

Hope all is well!

Here are a few of the products available with my art printed on them (by clicking an item you like, it will take you to the page where it’s available). They’d make great gifts to yourself or someone you love and would help support my dream of becoming a full-time writer and artist. Any purchase would be SO appreciated, but if you don’t want to or can’t, that’s totally fine. Just stopping by and reading my blog is a huge support.

  1. Imagine that, Monica, I rise at 5:00AM too! Oh, but you turn in at 9:00PM. Ah, so that’s what I’m doing wrong.

Among the things you’re doing right, in contrast, is keeping the news onslaught to a minimum. I think the constant influx of panic and all-crisis-all-the-time is particularly hard on creatives like ourselves. We spend our time dreaming, and striving to make the little worlds we create “just so.” When hyperventilation washes over us, we can’t help but to get all flustered too. It’s the empaths in us.

As you recommend, we should take it easy for a while. We’ll get through this, both “us” as in humanity, as well as “us” as individuals.

    1. Are you going to bed later than 9 and getting up at 5am?? 😉 I was staying up til 11 or 12, then sleeping 9-10 hours which is not like me – when I’m working I aim for 7pm (most of the time 8-8:30) bedtime and up at 2:30am just so I can have some morning time before work. Anyway, it seems to be really helping to have my morning time back.

I agree about being creatives and making our worlds ‘ just so’, and the news can really throw us off. I’m one that never watches news, but I’ve watched it daily through this, then get caught up in what is going on with the politics of it. I think it’s important to be updated, so I’m allowing a small bit of updates. If I watch more than that I get angry at the antics of a certain leader that seems to be making this worse. I am very thankful we have a very sensible governor but worry about other states that are following the leader. Trying to get back to my own little world and let it go because it’s out of my control and being upset isn’t helping anything.

Yes, we will get through this. Hugs.

  2. I love early starts as well especially if do something physical like an early bike ride. I have to avoid the internet as it sucks up the time. I think I am going to start setting a timer, and take a step-away after 30 minutes to do something else.

    1. Yes, the internet can be a time sucker. Most of my early start time is on the computer though, but I stick to things like blogging, eBay, art and my other ventures (most are on the computer) etc. I quit Facebook – seeing memes, political fights, pictures of food, football scores, bad news is a waste of time in my opinion. Your 30 minute break idea is great.

  3. I relate with this so much. I have been feeling exhausted, confused, and lost for a week!!! But the time i took out to relax and process my emotions helped to balance me. You are right, we have to take it easy and that is self care! ❤❤❤
