Visualizing What We Want Rather Than What We Don’t Want

Most of us are living life on auto-pilot.

Going to work, coming home, eating, watching some TV, chores, sleeping and repeating.

Just getting by.  Surviving.

Much of the time our thoughts are on our problems.  Our debt, health issues, relationship issues, etc.

This can cause anxiety and depression.

What if we spent our time thinking about our dreams rather than our problems?

Once we broke the habit of thinking about our problems and thought more about our dreams, we’d probably be inspired to take action to reach our dreams.

I made the commitment today to think more about my dreams than my problems.  When I do watch or listen to something it will be someone like Joe Dispenza or Bob Proctor, that teaches about this.

I’m going to train myself to think and be different than I always have.

I’m getting older and life has been pretty much the same all my life.  Always struggling.

I believe I struggle because I focus on my problems rather than solutions, goals and dreams.

If I had spent my life focusing on my dreams and goals, I believe I’d be living a much better life right now.

This doesn’t mean that I regret anything.  It just means I’ve recognized why I’ve been struggling and I’m going to take responsibility and change it.

I hope this give you food for thought.  If you’re one of the people that are fulfilled and making your dreams happen, I applaud you.

Please share your thoughts on this.  Are you struggling and think what I say here makes sense?  Are you fulfilled in life living your dreams?  If so, how did you do it?  Would love to get a conversation going on this.

  1. Good post…. I definitely believe in life that it’s important for us to focus and be thankful for what we do have, while striving for more, oppose to focusing and complaining about what we don’t have. Last, living by this mindset has definitely helped me to be happy overall in life.

  2. I totally agree with you and your thoughts especially on the way that we focus on problems and our anxieties
I used visualisation a lot throughout my sales career and also in the early stages of my recovery and even today if I am struggling a bit I will use visualisation to help me focus on the dreams of the future.
I wish you every success in your future life and endeavours 🤗🙏

    1. How did the visualization help you with your sales career? So far, just the relief of no anxiety or worry is enough for me and I’ve experienced a few small improvements that are signs I’m going in the right direction. Thank-you so much for your well wishes and comments! 🙂

      1. I used visualisation to map out in my mind the moment from entering the car park until the end of the presentation imagining the way I would project myself, the possible objections and overcoming them and the conclusion of the meeting.

      2. I used it in my early recovery in terms of what I would drink, where I would go and look for the pros and cons of where I was thinking about going to.
In many ways visualisation is very much like mindfulness but using your imagination to help you see different outcomes. 😊

  3. I think it is good advice to focus on goals but monetary goals and more and better things don’t necessarily make a person happier. I live modestly with my husband and two dogs. We love God and have great faith that is what helped me survive my childhood. It also makes us grateful for what we do have. Also we don’t live beyond our means and if we can’t pay for something we don’t buy it. This is what works for us. I wouldn’t want to be in my thirties starting all over again however things in our world are so expensive and people are working more and more hours. Hope this explains a little about our philosophy. Have an amazing day. Love 💕 to you. Joni

    1. I completely agree that monetary goals don’t necessarily make a person happier. I’m currently working on monetary (and other) goals only because I have been barely getting by and my car has a lot of mileage and break downs and these issues have interfered with everything in my life. I live extremely frugal and actually enjoy it, but there’s times I wondered if I’d end up homeless because one expense would put me under. Thank-you for your thoughts on this Joni. Very, very true that money does not bring happiness. <3<3

      1. Well of course you are right we do need a few things that we can depend on. A car is a big one as I am afraid of being in our little smart car and breaking down. Also we need to be able to have health care and shelter. You certainly are wise about living carefully at such a young age. I applaud you for that my friend. Love ❤️ you and have a nice day. I really like the name of your blog by the way.

  4. This is so true, Monica! I used to be a negative person, always thinking about my problems. I didn’t change this mindset until.my forties and it took a lot of work. I can tell you that I was amazed at the positive events and things that flowed into my life afterwards!

Thank you for reinforcing this! Sometimes even those of us that learn this need a little reinforcement!

I’ll reblog this on Chateau Cherie

  5. My ultimate dream is to be able to work remotely full time so we can travel and I won’t have to lose out on work. I have been working on this, and have gotten a few contracts – but still need more to be able to quit my full time job. It’s definitely a challenge juggling both – working full time, and then going home and working on my contracts after dinner but it is worth it. In the mean time, it’s extra money to be able to do things we might not otherwise be able to do. Working on it, day by day. 🙂

    1. All that extra work you’re putting in will eventually pay off if you don’t give up. Hang in there! I’m doing extra too (on top of the full-time job) in hopes I can become self-employed full time someday, so understand. I appreciate your comments!
