Just sharing one of my earliest paintings. It’s an ATC (artist trading card) painting I did back in 2006. I sold it on eBay and don’t remember what it sold for. I used acrylic paint and colored pencils.
Artist trading cards are 2.5″ x 3.5″. They are a fun and inexpensive way to collect art.

The pandemic brought a lot of awareness to me about climate change, food shortages, how quickly our hospitals could colapse and more. This has sent me on a mission of becoming self-sustainable, empowered and working to help heal the earth. That is what the focus of this blog has become. The main way I'm working at this is through building a food forest and documenting as much as possible in hopes to inspire others. The more of us that do this, the more it will help heal the earth. When we buy produce from the grocery store, it was grown through monoculture, and that leads to use of chemicals that goes onto our food and into our planet, destroying soil. If we grow our own through permaculture (a food forest), we give the soil health. We also give ourselves health by growing organic foods and herbs that contribute to our health. There's a lot more to this, but this touches the surface. I'm only one year into this but my food forest is growing. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

I love painting cards for various holidays and birthdays. I paint in watercolor after abandoning acrylics. Your work is wonderful.

I’m actually trying to figure out a couple of gift paintings for specific people right now. What do you like about watercolor? I haven’t tried it yet. Learning pastels at the moment 🙂

For starters, I realized I painted in acrylics for years and really wasn’t very good. 😀 I knew I just needed to find my niche. I can’t paint in oils due to my asthma. Many people had tried to scare me away from watercolor, saying it was too challenging. I love watching the color flow with the movement of the water. There are details in this medium not possible in the others. Ultimately I encourage you to find the one that you are most passionate about and your gift will follow.

I am glad you found your niche and thank-you for sharing. I thought I had found my niche in acrylics, color and whimsy, which I still like, but find I’m being pulled towards impressionism. I like pastels because you can just pull them out and get to it (simple) – and they blend easily with vibrant colors. I sure am stumbling around with these two though. Every time I try, I’m not happy with the results, but will keep trying. Someday I want to try watercolor!
